Practice Schedule

We are working on getting a permit for Saugus High School Track on September 22, at 5:45. Keep working on getting pledges.

The Lap-a-thon is our primary fund raising event. This fund raiser helps us keep our price low, allows us to offer scholarships, and assist our athletes in national competition.

We ask every family to seek pledges either by a flat rate or per lap donation, The athletes run for 1 hour, later they return to their donors to collect their pledges (if based on a per lap donation). and turn in the funds by the dead line.

We award a  grand prize of Disneyland/California Adventure Park Hopper tickets to the athlete who raises the most funds, we are also working on awarding 2nd and 3rd place awards, also every athlete who raises $40.00 will also win a lap-a-thon prize.

The deadline to be eligible for the grand prize, 2nd and 3rd place awards is October 7th. Athletes who raise $40.00 or more will still be eligible to win a lap-a-thon prize even if they turn in the funds after October 7th.

Song Requests: We are taking requests. If you have a song you want to hear during the lap-a-thon, please send me an email so I can make sure I have it. *We may not be able to get to all songs requested.

Beginning

Beginning to running is something that everyone who runs has to go through. We all have to start somewhere.

Here are some tips for beginners.
  • Have scheduled running sessions.
  • Set Running goals. (like such and such time, or distance in such as such time.)
  • Wear proper running gear, such as shoes, and clothes.
  • Get a partner to run with, or join a team such as the Storm.
  • Rest on Rest days, and work out on work out days.
  • Eat smart and drink smart.

Much of what you need to know about running is listed above. I believe that everyone can run, and there are some essential things that everyone must do, if you are going to be a runner you should dress the part, wearing running shorts and running shirts and good shoes along with good socks helps the runner not just be comfortable, but aids in wicking sweat away from the body to help cool the body while running, good shoes and socks help protect the feet, which move the athlete forward over the terrain.

Setting realistic goals helps the runner to assess progress. Some times just going out and running a time trial such as a 1 mile run can give a coach or the runner a starting point, and give the ability to assess the athlete's progress. Using this tool, the athlete and coach can set new realistic goals, to further develop the athlete's ability. All athletes must have trials to establish where they are at, and to figure out what the need to do to become better.

Eating good healthy meals fuels your body for the tasks you are demanding of it. You need to also hydrate. We'll help you to become better athletes so you can realize your most.

The only person on that course that we want you to beat is yourself! remember that, no matter where you are, in your development, your improvement is what we are interested in.
