The Saturday All Comers Races at Pierce College was a great success with 300 participants.  We had great performance by the Storm athletes and our Storm Parent brought home lots of medals by placing in the top 3 in there age groups.

The coaching staff is excited as we prepare to start our regular season Valley Youth Conference Cross Country meet schedule.  This coming Saturday we race in Simi Valley on a fairly flat course at Corriganville.  Then we move to the hilly courses during our 2nd (Pierce College again) and 3rd(Mt Sac) races.  It has been great to see everyone's commitment during practice over the last 6 weeks as each of you has worked very hard to get in shape. I think  all of you would agree with the saying:

"If it doesn't kill you, It'll make you STRONGER!"

Cross Country is a so much fun because we get to run on many challenging courses during the season and you can see how your hard work during the practice week will result in personal improvement as the season progresses.  Each week you'll face the same group of conference competitors in your age groups, which makes for some exciting races as the weeks roll by.  Relax, have fun and enjoy the next 6 weeks.

Lap-a-thon
Will be next Monday's September 22nd at Saugus High School.

We are going to need some parental help for this event, please sign up at practice this week.

The Lap-a-thon is our primary fund raising event. This fund raiser helps us keep our price low, allows us to offer scholarships, and assist our athletes in national competition.

We ask every family to seek pledges either by a flat rate or per lap donation, The athletes run for 1 hour, later they return to their donors to collect their pledges (if based on a per lap donation). and turn in the funds by the dead line.

We award a  grand prize of Disneyland/California Adventure Park Hopper tickets to the athlete who raises the most funds.  Every athlete who raises $40.00 will also win a lap-a-thon prize.

The dead line to be eligible for the grand prize is October 7th. Athletes who raise $40.00 or more will still be eligible to win a lap-a-thon prize even if they turn in the funds after October 7th.

Song Requests: We are taking requests. If you have a song you want to hear during the lap-a-thon, please let me an email so I can make sure I have it, * We may not be able to get to all songs requested.

Please burn them to a CD, or see Elaine or Alan to check out a flash drive to put them on.

A New slide show will go up as we get more pictures. Check the website to see the show.

I am also looking for people who have digital video camera so we can add some moving pictures to the DVD, please bring them to practice and to the meets, which are coming up in a couple of weeks.
