Dear Storm Family,

IMPORTANT Please read the entire newsletter.

I would like to thank everyone who helped out with the mock meet, results are posted to our website hopefully you got an idea of what the meet will look like this weekend.

We are going to need a lot people to stick around and help clean up at the end, it takes a while to tear down the timing equipment and pack it up, and we will need help to move equipment to our storage unit across the street. If we could have a couple with trucks or vans able to return and assist with tear down that will help a lot.

The meet starts at 8:00 but not all athletes have to be there, unless they are going to run the 4x100 relay. All relay athletes must be checked in by 8:30. Any late athletes may not be assigned to a relay team or on the team best suited for them. All athletes who are going to compete in the first events of the day should arrive at 8:00 am, (Gremlin Long Jump, Youth Shot Put, Bantam High Jumpers, and all 3000 meter runners).

Click Here for he order of events (its a good idea to print that page and bring it with you). All other athletes are still welcome to pick up tags early. If an athlete misses an event they signed up for, they are free to try another event provided it hasn't already completed and as long as they don't over event (meaning compete in too many events for their age group) Limits explained later in news letter.

Again, we appreciate all the volunteers this past weekend, We had the most Volunteers ever thanks to Jennifer Ventress and the Storm Families.

This Saturday our track meet will be against the So Cal Supersonics and the Hawks Track Team.

PRACTICE - We pride ourselves in having exceptional coaches training your kids. During practice parents should not be on the field or shouting commands at their children from over the fence, that is very distracting for everybody, if you have concerns or recommendations, please discuss this with your child's age group coach or Coach Elaine before or after practice. We are happy to answer any questions you may have. Coaches need to give full attention to all athletes during practice.

This Weeks Track Meet

Our track meet this week will be at Valencia High School.

Valencia High School has a brand new track, it is very important we use the correct size spikes in the shoes, the size is 3/16 needle or less spike. The ones that come with your shoes are not the correct size, we have some for sale for $3.00 for a full set.

Please sign up to volunteer during the meet.

Setup starts at 7:00 am.

Relays
Many parents are asking how relays are determined, here is a brief description on how this is done.

It is very important to the team that if your athlete signs up for a relay that they are at the meet and checked in before 8:30 am so the coaches can assemble the teams. If your child is signed up for a relay and does not show up or is late, it will effect every other relay runner, and disappoint those who can not compete.

This is the only event that we are strict on signing up for.  Please don't sign up for the relay if your athlete can not compete in the event.

Criteria for relay team assignment.
1) time in the 100 meter race (at a meet).
2) attending practice
3) able to hand off smoothly
4) coaches discretion.

all of this is considered when coaches put together their teams (A-Team, B-Team, C-Team, etc...).

if you have any questions about this please speak with your agegroup coach or Coach Elaine

Lost and Found
We have a huge amount of lost and found, we have no place to store it.

All items will be donated to Good Will at the end of the week every week.

Sincerely,
