This week is the dead line for Scholastic Forms  to be turned in by the end of the weeks (Thursday).

In an effort to emphasize the importance of maintaining scholastic ability in conjunction with athletic ability, The Santa Clarita Track Club, Inc, in cooperation with local school districts, awards a scholastic achievement medal to all active athletes that maintain a 'B+' (3.5)  grade point average or better during the season.  The medal is engraved with the student's name, year and symbol of the sport in which he/she is participating. A special President's award medal is presented to players that maintain straight A's

You must submit the following Scholastic Forms before the deadline in order to get the medal

The Deadline for turning in your forms to be eligible for the award is October 21 at the end of practice.

Coach's Corner
Team,

Another race in the books and what a great day we saw out there at Mt. Sac!  Perfect running conditions, stellar competition and some great efforts made this an amazing day of running.  We had every age group represented, including youth girls [great job Sierra], and it is so enjoyable to watch each of you give it your all in competition.

What's next for us?  This week will start light tonight with a shorter recovery run for all.  We have two special guests who will be with us sharing on the topic of injury prevention.  As you athletes continue to grow there are some pains that are ok, while others lead to bigger issues.  Tonight, you'll learn how to assess that and also different ways to stay ahead of the curve and stay healthy.  Dr. Justin Franson and PT. Suzanne Hawson will be with us for that.  They'll also be out there to run with us so I'm sure you will enjoy that time.  Please be prepared to ask questions as the goal is to make this interactive with you guys.

For the rest of the week, we're going to have 2 pretty tough practices on Tuesday and Thursday as we only have 2 weeks left.  The course this week is said to be all grass and dirt and no big hills.  So it should be a good break from Mt. Sac, but only for one week.  We'll be finishing off at Central Park on the new terrain the following week!!!

On a more sentimental note: I want to tell you all how proud I am of your hard work, your desire to improve, and overall great attitudes.  It's nice to work with such great athletes and families!  Thank you!!

One final thought is post season.  Actually 2 thoughts about this: first, if you desire to go to the national race in Orlando, Fl please let Coach David, Alan or Elaine or myself know.  There is a qualifying race you must attend and you'll want to know more information about the specifics.  Second, if you desire to keep training during the winter in preparation for track, I will be providing coaching.  Initially I am going to open it up to Midget's and Youth as this will be focused on strength training and I won't have the capacity to manage the younger athletes at this time.  There will be a nominal fee for Storm athletes and a little less nominal for non-storm athletes.  If you are interested, please email me and I will begin to put a list together and provide you with more information.

Thank you again for what has been a really incredible season!  I am looking forward to the final 2 races, so keep the vitamins in you, keep the rest up and stay healthy.

Enjoy your day and week!
Coach Jeremy
