Hi XC Team,

It was great to finally get the SCTC Storm 2009 Cross Country (XC) Season off and running.  There were many new faces on Saturday with over half of the athletes new to XC.  I want to Welcome everyone to the Storm 2009 XC.  The coaches and I are all looking forward to great season filled with hard work, personal growth, athletic improvement and most of all FUN!

I also want to remind all you parents that you are welcome to come out and run with us if you're able.  Please help remind the athletes to drink plenty of water during the day so they are well hydrated and ready to run as the 6:00 PM practices can be pretty  warm during our August practices.

Remember the athletes may have sore muscles, but stick with it and after the first few weeks the pain will go away and it will get much easier.  On the days we don't have practice athletes can stretch, go for a bike ride or take a swim.  These other activities will help your body adjust if your new to running distance.

This week we will be practicing at the following locations:

Monday,   August 3rd at 6:00pm-Heritage Park (Corner of McBean and Newhall Ranch Road-Park in Lot off McBean and
Fairview Drive, we meet by the playground)

Tuesday,  August 4th at 6:00pm-Central Park  (meet at basketball courts)

Thursday, August 6th at 6:00pm-No official Practice but, run at the COC Cross Country Race Series -3 miles race($5 entry fee)

Saturday, August 8th at 8:00 am-Central Park (meet at basketball courts)

Running Quote of the week:
"We run, not because we think it is doing us good, but because we enjoy it and cannot help ourselves...
